Covey Announces New CEO

Covey, a non-profit organization serving Wisconsin’s greater Fox Valley, is announcing Zach Zabel of Oshkosh, Wis. as its new CEO.

Covey has a proud history of empowering individuals with disabilities and their families. For more than 70 years, Covey has remained steadfast in its mission to create opportunities for those with disabilities, helping them achieve their highest potential through customized, compassionate care. With a focus on individualized support, Covey has fostered an environment of creativity, skill-building, and community engagement, enabling clients to discover their passions and pursue their dreams.

Zabel brings a distinguished record of nonprofit leadership, most recently in veterans services, where he championed the unique needs of individuals and families, built strong community and government partnerships, and led initiatives to improve access to services and quality of life. In his new role, Zabel will advance Covey’s mission to provide meaningful respite, residential and community-based programs, and support for adults with IDD and the families who care for them.

I’m excited to listen, learn from the people we serve and our incredible team, and work together to build on the organizations' strengths and imagine what’s possible for the future.” 

Since its founding in 1954, Covey has been a trusted partner for families, offering both in-home and out-of-home care through programs such as its respite house, interactive skill-building programs, and educational and volunteering opportunities. Through these efforts, Covey continues to offer innovative solutions that are customized to everyone’s needs, ensuring that every person can thrive in an environment where they are supported and celebrated.

The Board of Directors, staff, and clients of Covey are excited for the next chapter in the organization’s history under Zabel’s leadership, and they look forward to continuing their important work in helping individuals with disabilities achieve their dreams.
